Young Company Code of Conduct – 2025

YOUNG COMPANY CODE OF CONDUCT

(revised August 2022)

Part of the great tradition of the theatre is a Code of Conduct which belongs to everyone, both on and off the stage. It is a commitment to craftsmanship, a respect for colleagues, and a dedication to the product, written to provide overall guidance and direction to Members of the KCP and to clarify a set of standards by which to measure their conduct.

1.0 Respect for Others

Respect the rights and feelings of other Members. Always act with fairness, honesty, and integrity; respect the opinions of others and treat all with equality and dignity without regard to gender, race, colour, creed, ancestry, place of origin, political beliefs, religion, marital status, disability, age, sexual orientation or gender identity.

Treat the Show’s Production Team and the Organization’s Directorship with the professional respect they deserve.

2.0 Maintain a Professional Focus

Play every performance to the best of your ability, regardless of how small the role or how large the challenge.

Pay attention to and follow the directorship of the Production Team; disruptive, distracting, or problematic behaviour that affects the rehearsals and or performances will not be tolerated. Cell phones, electronic devices/games can be distracting during rehearsals. They should be put away while you are being called on, unless being used for reading a digital script. In the theatre, cell phones are not permitted in stage areas.

Show up to rehearsals and performances on-time and ready to get to work with all necessary props, costumes, notes, and/or scripts. You are part of an exciting production that is a collective effort of cooperation and patience.

3.0 General Rules

Respect all facilities, costumes, props, sets, and other KCP properties. Pick up after yourself and work to keep the theatre and rehearsal studio clean, hang up all costume pieces, and handle props with care and attention.

Never leave the rehearsal space and/or theatre until the practice/performance is complete and the Director issues a dismissal, unless by special excuse from the Director/Producer.

Do not alter lines, lights, properties, settings, costumes, or any phase of the production without consultation with and permission from the Show Production team.
