KCP Theatre Show – AUDITIONS MAY 2024!
Come be a part of a unique opportunity to perform in our community! KCP presents a musical revue: “Puttin’ On The Glitz” which follows a group of creatives as they embark on the journey of bringing a production to life! From writing to auditions, conflicts and triumphs, to the excitement of opening night, we will perform classic and contemporary showtunes which will be sure to dazzle our audiences. 🎵Let’s entertain 🎵 the community this summer as we tour venues across the Barrie area in an interactive dinner theatre/cabaret style format.
We’re eager to offer this performance opportunity of a smaller-scale that requires less time-commitment and a shorter rehearsal schedule. Due to the small cast size (8 to 12 members), this show does require a group of performers who are comfortable being featured in solos and duets and are able to do some prep work at home, in addition to scheduled rehearsals.
This season’s third show is a testament to what KCP is all about: community! Our focus for this show is to give back to the community. Host venues will be given the opportunity to choose a charity of their choice and any proceeds will go directly to that charity. This style of show also allows us to connect with segments of our community who may or may not yet be familiar with who we are, our mission and the enchantment of live theatre.

Commitment Notices
*Auditions will be held May 13-14th, with callback, if needed on the 16th
*Ages 17+ may audition.
* Please note that this show will not require much dialogue memorization, or choreography as in traditional shows.
*First Rehearsal: June 3rd
*Rehearsal times are Mondays 6:30-9:30 (excluding Canada Day) and Thursdays 6:30-9:30. You may not be scheduled for all rehearsals. If there are conflicts (such as previously scheduled appointments, vacations etc.), please be prepared to let us know on the audition form and/or at your audition.
*Know that all performers will have individual/headset microphones, and that due to the nature of the venues, we will be performing with karaoke/accompaniment tracks
KCP membership fee: To be part of this KCP production, all cast members are required to pay a $20 +HST($22.60) membership fee. This fee will assist in covering some of the costs associated with this show
Important Final Rehearsal and Performance Dates:
Tech and Dress rehearsals: July 8,11,15th
Performances at Barrie and area venues (4 confirmed performances between July 19th- July 25th.)
Roles
The entire cast will be given featured roles and musical opportunities, including solos, duets, and group numbers.
(Note: plot-line will be determined according to our chosen cast, and we’re excited to receive input and ideas as we finalise. If you have any standout-suggestions, feel free to include them in your audition form!)
Examples of Roles for story line:
The Producer: No Age or Gender restrictions, though the vocal requirements will be in the tenor/alto range.
The Writer/Director: No Age or Gender restrictions, though the vocal requirements will be in the tenor/alto range.
The Ingenue: a naive and ambitious actress.
The Male Lead: Opposite to our Ingenue
The Theatre Veteran: Actress, very old-school, bit of a diva.
The Alto Comedic relief: no specific age range
Additional Comedic Relief: No age or gender restriction, playful & upbeat
Other potential roles: stage manager, choreographer, music director

Audition
May 13th and 14th @ 6:30-9:30pm
Please prepare one of the following:
- Either one song from your own repertoire or a song from our list of suggestions (See below) that you think suits the show or a specific role/character you’d like to portray or (up to 2-mins in length) Note: you are not expected to audition for a specific role, but with your choice of song, keep in mind the theme of the show.
We will not be providing an accompanist for auditions, so please bring your device with a karaoke/accompaniment track. A speaker will be provided for connecting.
As there are no selected readings for this show, we ask you to show us your dramatic flare by bringing the character of your song to life.
You may be asked to be part of some group movement/dance as part of your audition
Please be prepared to stay for an hour during the evening that you are scheduled to audition.
We will notify everyone via email following the auditions to let you know if callbacks are necessary and/or if you have been selected to be part of the show.
